Nordic GENECARGENECAR is one of four research networks established by the Nordic Forest Research Co-operation Committee and the Nordic forest research institutes to promote cooperation in forest research. GENECAR will promote and coordinate collaboration among Nordic forest geneticists and tree breeders, aiming to make their genetic research and tree breeding activities more cost efficient. Besides conducting advanced research, it will also disseminate research results to different end users and stakeholders. A better use of common resources and competence and a better flow of information among the scientists within the network will be an important factor to achieve this goal. GENECAR is initially established for a period of five years. GENECAR will replace the former Nordic Group for the Management of Genetic Resources of Trees and will be responsible for its activities, including common Nordic meetings and initiation of research projects. Our goal is to use the network to develop, find financial support and conduct Nordic and international research activities. OrganizationGENECAR is lead by a co-ordination committee and a co-ordinator. A research project/program with high priority and a project leader at each of four Nordic forest research institutes will initially be included in the network. Scientists at the other institutes and at other Nordic research institutions as well, will be invited to participate in the projects with the resources available. GENECAR Co-ordinator: Tor Myking, Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute Co-ordination Committee
